The Verb ‘To Be’

🌈 El verbo "To Be": la base del inglés que debes dominar

El verbo "to be" significa ser o estar y lo usamos para hablar de identidad, emociones, ubicación y descripciones.

✨ 1. Presente simple: tres formas clave

Sujeto Verbo Ejemplo
I am I am a teacher.
He / She / It is She is happy.
You / We / They are They are in the classroom.

💡 Tip: I → am | singular → is | plural → are

🗣️ 2. Contracciones (habla natural)

  • I am → I’m
  • You are → You’re
  • He is → He’s
  • We are → We’re
  • They are → They’re

👉 Usarlas te ayuda a sonar más fluido y natural.

❌ 3. Negativos

Solo agrega not después del verbo:

  • I am not a student.
  • She isn’t sad.
  • They aren’t at home.

❓ 4. Preguntas (el verbo salta)

Afirmación: You are ready.

Pregunta: Are you ready?

💡 El verbo va al inicio.

⚠️ 5. Error común: la edad

En inglés usamos to be, no "have":

❌ I have 20 years

👉 La edad es un estado, no una posesión.
